OSAGE, IOWA — Funeral services will be held at the Champion Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of the Rev. Gilbert Chalice of the Osage Methodist Church for Mrs. Anna Erbe, 70, who killed herself here Friday by drinking three kinds of poison.

Mrs. Erbe had been a chambermaid at the Cleveland Hotel 32 years. One year ago she was pensioned and given a home at the hotel for life. Ill health is thought to have brought on her suicide.

Surviving is one son, Earl Erbe of Waterloo.

Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Woman Who Took Life at Osage Left $10,800 to Her Son

OSAGE, IOWA - Mrs. Anna Erbe, 70, who committed suicide here last Friday by taking three kinds of poison, died intestate but it was discovered Monday that she left an estate amounting to $10,800, when her son, Earl Erbe of Waterloo, filed a petition for appointment as administrator.

Mrs. Erbe had been chambermaid at Cleveland Hotel for 32 years.

She had been assured by the manager of the hotel only a few days before her death that she would have a home there and not to worry about the future.

She had been retired a year ago.

Mrs. Erbe was a native of Germany and came here alone as a young woman.

She saved the entire sum from wages earned at the hotel.

OSAGE, IOWA (AP) — Coroner John Eiel reported that Mrs. Anna Erbe, 70, committed suicide here Friday morning by drinking three kinds of poison.

She had worked here 32 years as a hotel chambermaid. A year ago the manager pensioned her and told her she had a home at the hotel for life. The coroner said she had been in ill health and was depressed.

She is survived by a son, Earl Erbe of Waterloo, Iowa. The coroner said he would not hold an inquest.
