OBITUARY: Carrie (Peterson) Johnson, 1871-1929

Carrie Peterson was born in Gran, Hadeland, Norway on September 18, 1871. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Peterson. At the age of four she came with her parents to America, settling in the Orchard, Iowa, vicinity. All of her youth was spent in Mitchell County with the exception of a year spent in Floyd County.

On September 18, 1893 she was married to H. Lauritz Johnson. To this union were born three sons: Olvin, Irvin, and Newell, all of whom, with their father, survive her. Seven years of her married life were spent in Osage, where her husband was for a time the Express Agent, and the rest of the time has been spent in Cedar Township.

Besides her husband and sons, one sister, Mrs. Bertha Williams survives.

Neighbors say of Mrs. Johnson that she was a wonderful mother and that her home was a place of love and happiness. What greater epitaph could be written?

She died on March 3, 1929 following an illness of three weeks duration from flu and complications. She had been in poor health for the past several years.

Rev O.C. Myhre in the Rock Creek Lutheran Church conducted funeral services. Interment was made in the Rock Creek cemetery.
