Funeral services for Elmer Duenow, 69, who died in Mason City January 15, were held January 18 at Trinity Lutheran church in Mason City.

Elmer Henry August Duenow, son of Fred and Mary (Kuehl) Duenow, was born February 12, 1903 near St. Ansgar, and spent his boyhood on farms in that community. He attended rural schools near his home and also Otranto Consolidated School. He worked with his father on the home farm which was located near the Cedar river in the Otranto vicinity. He was an avid sportsman and derived much pleasure from hunting and fishing.

On Decemer 20, 1928 he was united in marriage to Hazel Priem. Two sons were born to them. Most of their married life they lived in Mason City where he was a carrier for the Star mail routes and worked for a number of years for the Borden Co. and later for the State Brand Creameries, retiring from the latter company in February 1968. After his retirement he was employed at Boomhower's Hardware store in Mason City and was on his way to work when stricken January 15.

Mr. Duenow is survived by his wife, Hazel; two sons, Gerald and wife Barbara of Cedar Rapids and Gene and wife Kathleen of Tulsa, Okla.; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Schuett of Lewiston, Minn. and Mrs. Myrtle Rowland of Osage; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Roy and Warren and an infant sister, Lillian.

Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery in St. Ansgar.

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Funeral services for Elmer H. Duenow, 69, a former resident, who died Monday at a Mason City hospital, were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City; burial in First Lutheran Cemetery in St. Ansgar.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel; two sons, Gerald of Cedar Rapids; and Gene of Tulsa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Herman Schuett of Lewiston, Minnesota, and Mrs. William Rowland of Osage;

Major-Erickson Funeral Home in Mason City in charge.
