Mrs. Emma Hartwig, 89, lifetime resident of Mitchell county, died at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital on Sunday, April 3, 1955. She had been in the hospital for some time, having broken her hip about two one-half months ago.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. Louis Dietrichs on January 7, 1866, in Cedar township, in Mitchell county, Iowa. She continued living in Mitchell county after her marriage on June 21, 1883, to Reinhard Hartwig.
Mr. and Mrs. Hartwig farmed for many years, then retired to Osage where her husband died in 1936. Mrs. Hartwig was also preceded in death by her parents; two children, Dorothy and Louis, and by three brothers, Louis, Gustoff, and William.
She leaves four children: Fred, Nora Springs; Lawrence, Mrs. Lena Dietrichs, and Mrs. Minnie Troge, all of Osage; five sisters: Mrs. Louise Roehr and Mrs. Anna Roehr, both of Britain, South Dakota; Miss Minnie Hartwig, Osage; Mrs. Otto Borchardt, of Idaho; and Mrs. Lena Rosenberg, Independence, Iowa; two brothers, Herman and Fred, both of St. Ansgar.
The funeral will be at the Champion funeral home on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and at Trinity Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Cedar Township.
