Funeral services for Mrs. Rusina S. Culbertson, 86, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital May 1, were held May 4 at Deer Creek Lutheran church in Carpenter, with the Rev. Robert Lehmann officiating.

Rusina Strand Culbertson, the daughter of Knute and Ingabor Fodness Strand, was born on a farm near Mona October 19, 1880 where she attended school and spent her girlhood.

On November 17, 1900 she married Charles Culbertson of Carpenter. They established their home on a farm in the Carpenter vicinity until 1905, when he accepted the position of rural mail carrier. They moved to Carpenter where they spent the remainder of their married life.

Mr. and Mrs. Culbertson were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in the year 1950.

Mrs. Culbertson was a member of Deer Creek Lutheran church, and an active member of Martha circle during the years that she enjoyed good health.

After the death of her husband she remained in her own home for five years. Due to failing health she entered the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center in June 1965, and was a resident there until she entered Mitchell County Memorial hospital April 20 for major surgery. She died May 1 at the age of 86 years, six months and 12 days.

Surviving are four of seven children: Nuel of Chicago; Mrs. Dave (Ruth) McGreevey of Mankato, Minn.; Claude of Little Cedar; Mrs. Milton (Enid) Thompson of LeRoy, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. Ella Volstad of Austin, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, three brothers and two sisters, two sons, Russell and Oral, and one daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Ina) Koch.

Burial was in First Lutheran cemetery, St. Ansgar, with Rev. Lehmann in charge of the committal services.
