Hilda L. LaCoste

Hilda L. LaCoste, age 92, of Osage, died Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage, due to complications from Alzheimer's Disease. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2010, at the Faith Lutheran Home, 914 Davidson Drive, in Osage, with Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, rural Osage. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Faith Lutheran Home or Iowa Hospice.

Hilda was born February 5, 1917, near Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Ferdinand and Caroline (Troge) Muller. She graduated from Osage High School in 1935, and attended Iowa State Teachers College. From 1937 to 1943, Hilda was a country school teacher. She married Donald LaCoste on March 18, 1943, at St. John's Lutheran Church, southwest of Osage. Hilda was a homemaker and farmed with Donald five miles north of Floyd, Iowa. In 1994, she moved to Osage. She was a life long member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Hilda enjoyed gardening, reading, spending time with family, and volunteering at church.

Hilda is survived by her children, Carolyn Walk of Rochester, Minnesota, John (Velda) LaCoste of Osage, Donna Hawkinson of Rochester, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Daren, Jim and Mark Walk, Jennifer Bauer, Brad LaCoste, and Matthew Hawkinson; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; sister, Nina Muller; brothers, Glenn and Loren Muller; and son-in-law, Duane Walk.
