Corine Lucille Cowell, 87, died Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar with Rev. Roger Tornes officiating. Burial will be at First Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.

Corine Lucille Cowell was born July 2, 1919 in Mitchell County, south of St. Ansgar to Iver and Maria (Halverson) Dahl. She was educated in a one room school until 8th grade, and graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1938.

Corine was united in marriage to Derald Raymond Cowell on November 11, 1945 in Nashua. She worked in the grocery business for over 40 years in St. Ansgar. Corine liked to crochet, garden, and bake. She was best known for cinnamon rolls and waffles. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar. Most of all Corine adored her husband and cherished moments with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her unique charm and cleaver wit endeared Corine to grocery store customers in St. Ansgar for 48 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Harley, and beloved husband, Derald.

Corine is survived by children Karen (LeRoy) Bolding, Plymouth, Iowa; Dean (Sue) Cowell, Kensett, Iowa; Avis Bartz, Northwood, Iowa; Janet (Jerry) Billick, Mason City, Iowa; Jim (Laura) Cowell, Stacyville, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
