Henry J. Tesch, 77, pioneer Rock township resident, died at his home Tuesday; ill for some time and suffered a cerebral hemorrhage the last week; tentative funeral rites planned for Friday at 1 p. m. at the Tesch home, and at 2 at the Rock Creek St. John's Lutheran Church;
He was born near Watertown, Wisconsin, Oct. 31, 1867, the son of Frederick and Louise Tesch. At the age of two he came to Rock township with his parents, and they built the home where he lived the remainder of his life.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On June 10. 1897, he married Augusta Walk, of Grafton, who survives. To them were born 14 children, 13 of whom survive; three daughters include Mrs. Carl Nack, near Grafton; Mrs, Lloyd Nack, Osage, and Mrs. Albert Hockemeyer, near Long Prairie, Minn.; 10 sons, Otto, St. Ansgar; Lawrence and Oscar, near Grafton; Julius, Clear Lake; Sgt. S. E. Tesch, Saipan; Arthur, Osage; Clarence, Keokuk; Reuben radioman, U. S. coast guard, now in the Atlantic; Pfc. Edwin, Hawaiian Islands, and Harold, Dubuque, there are 18 grandchildren.
During his life had been active in various cooperative enterprises, including the Farmers Grain & Lumber Co. of St. Ansgar, Farmers Elevator of Grafton, rural telephone exchange of Grafton, and St. Ansgar creamery; also was active as school treasurer and secretary of St. John's Lutheran Church.
