OSAGE, IOWA - John Allan French, 54, of Charles City, died Wednesday (Dec. 23, 2009) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with the Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage.

Visitation is from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with a Scripture wake service at 4:30 p.m.

John was born on January 25, 1955, in Osage, Iowa, the son of James and Mary Helen (Gerhartz) French. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Osage High School. John was employed by Sara Lee in New Hampton and retired from there due to ill health. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both in Charles City.

John is survived by his mother, Mary Helen French of Osage; his sister, Cathy French of Osage; his brother, Gary French of Charles City; his brother-in-law, David Krietemeyer, and his nephew, John Krietemeyer, of Evansville, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his father, James French; his brother, Robert French; and his sister, Diann Krietemeyer.
