Quentin W. Meyer

NEW HAVEN, IOWA - Quentin W. Meyer, age 90, of New Haven, died Friday, December 18, 2009, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center Hospice Unit in Osage.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 23, 2009) at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Haven, with the Rev. Ray E. Atwood officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in New Haven.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a Catholic Order of Foresters Rosary at 4:30 p.m.

Quentin was born on May 21, 1919, near New Haven, the son of William J. and Louise (Toelle) Meyer. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in New Haven and graduated in 1937.

Quentin was united in marriage to Betty Schmidt in Charles City on July 17, 1946. They made their home on the family farm east of New Haven, where they farmed until retiring in 1984. He was a life-long member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Quentin enjoyed bowling, fishing, and farming.

Quentin is survived by his wife, Betty Meyer of New Haven; three sons, Marlin Meyer of Mazeppa, Minn., Kenneth (Becky) Meyer of Mason City, Thomas Meyer of Point of Rocks, Md.; five grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter, Joyce Meyer.
