Laurel L. Wilder Funeral Held May 21

Funeral services for Laurel L. Wilder, 41, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital May 19 (1976) were held May 21 at the Schroeder & Dunn Funeral Home here with the Reverend Stephen Engelstad, past of First Lutheran Church officiating.

Laurel L. Wilder was born July 4, 1934, the son of Andrew (Jack) and Elmira (Smith) Wilder at their farm home in Worth County. He attended Otranto grade school and entered the U. S. Air Force in July 1951. While serving in the Air Force he earned the Good Conduct Medal, Untied Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal with two battle stars. Mr. Wilder also served in the U. S. Army, and after his discharge, went into construction work in the Chicago area.

He suffered an accident while at work there, and returned to St. Ansgar in 1975 where he lived with his parents.

Mr. Wilder is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wilder of St. Ansgar; four brothers, Doyle of Lyle, Minnesota, Roger of St. Ansgar, Marlin of Sugar Grove, Illinois, and Donald of Oswego, Illinois; two sisters, Mrs. Darwin (Jeanine) Newman of St. Ansgar and Mrs. Robert (Joan) Butters of St. Ansgar.

Military honors were presented by the Walter T. Enneberg Post No. 358 of the American Legion.

Burial was in Woodbury Cemetery in Lyle with Reverend Engelstad in charge of the committal services.

Pfc Laurel Wilder accompanied Staff Sgt. Roland Kaput on his trip to Maxwell AFB, Alabama. They left Thursday. Laurel will go on to Camp McDill Florida from Alabama.

NORTH IOWA FLIER HOME FROM KOREA
MELTONVILLE -- Airman 3/C Laurel Wilder arrived for a 40-day furlough at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wilder, after a year in Korea. He had never seen his only sister, born Nov. 4, 1952. He will leave for O'Hara International Airport at Chicago at the end of his leave.

Laurel also has a brother, Doyle Wilder, who has been with the Army in Germany. He is also expected home any day as word has been received that he has landed in the States.
