Mildred Midlang, 77
Mildred O. Midlang, 77, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at her home.
She was born October 20, 1922 in Lake Park. Mildred moved to Ayr, N.D. as a young girl. She attended school there, graduating from Ayr High School.
She married Leslie Midlang in Kensett, Iowa Dec. 31, 1941. They lived in Worth County, Iowa until 1955 when they moved to Osage, Iowa. While in Osage, they owned and operated the Osage Hotel. After a few moves in southern Minnesota, they semi-retired in Ellendale, N.D in where she managed the Travel Host Motel. In 1989, they moved to West Fargo, N.D. In 1992 they purchased the 6-11 Inn in rural Audubon. They operated that for four years. They moved to Lake Park in 1999.
Mildred was a member of Ayr High School girls basketball team that won five straight State Championships. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was known as an excellent cook.
She is survived by her husband Leslie; daughter, Joanne (Bruce) Dahlberg, of Audubon; son, James Midlang, Kearney, Neb.; three grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; five step great-grandchildren; five step great great grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille (Obert) Hogen, Kensett, Iowa, Bernice "Toots" (Sidney) Holden, Grand Forks, N.D.; Betty (Clarence) Rutherford, Page, N.D.; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Mathilda Marshall Moen; sister, Delores Moen; brothers, Arvid and Melvin Moen.
Service: Memorial service Thursday at 2 p.m. at West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, with Pastor Stuart Fankhanel officiating. Juliette Gunderson organist and Kim Schnitzer soloist.
Interment: Elk Creek Cemetery, rural Kensett, Iowa. Visitation: One hour prior to service.
