Dies in California

S. W. Penney, 86, for many years a resident of Osage and Mitchell county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ralph Owen, in Inglewood, Calif., Thursday afternoon, July 24. He was the father of Earl and Hartley Penney of Osage.

Mr. Penney was born Sept. 23, 1860, at Stacyville. He lived on a farm in Mitchell county until 1912 when he moved to Osage. He followed the trade of a painter here until 1927, when he moved to California. Since that time he had made his home with his daughter Mrs. Owen.

He is survived by four children, Earl and Hartley of Osage, Mrs. Owen of California, and Dr. M. D. Penney of Libertyville, Illinois, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held in Inglewood Monday, after which the body will be sent to Libertyville, Illinois, for burial.
