Blanche M. Thorson Funeral Held Here October 31
Funeral services for Miss Blanche M. Thorson, 90, who died at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center October 28, (1978) were held October 31 at the First Lutheran Church here with the Reverend Stephen Engelstad officiating.
Blanche M. Thorson, the daughter of Knud and Ingeborg (Blakkestad) Thorson, was born March 31, 1888 at the farm home northwest of St. Ansgar. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church where she continued to be a member her entire life.
Miss Thorson taught school in several locations in this area over a period of more than 25 years following the completion of her education in Newburg Township and the St. Ansgar Seminary.
After retiring from teaching she joined her brother, Henry and sisters, Clara and Helene on the home farm which they operated until Henry died. The sisters then moved to St. Ansgar.
Miss Thorson was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. She is survived by five nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Burial was in First Lutheran Cemetery with the Reverend Engelstad in charge of committal services.
