Helene G. Thorson Funeral Held

Funeral services for Miss Helene G. Thorson, 92, who died at her home in St. Ansgar November 25, 1971, were held November 29 at the First Lutheran Church with the Reverend Don Comnick officiating.

Helene Gurine Thorson, daughter of Knud H. and Ingebjor (Blakestad) Thorson, was born March 25, 1879 at the farm home of her parents two miles northwest of St. Ansgar. She was baptized in infancy in First Lutheran Church by the Reverend Johan Olsen, and was confirmed in the same church by the same pastor in 1893.

Miss Thorson attended rural school in District 1, Newburg Township for eight years. Having a natural inclination for sewing, she took up dressmaking, and many years of her life were devoted to this work.

When her sight began to fail and it became difficult for her to see well enough to continue her sewing, she helped out wherever help was needed in private homes among friends and relatives, especially were an elderly mother was alone.

She is survived by her sister, Blanche, with whom she made her home; several nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.

Burial was in First Lutheran Cemetery with Reverend Comnick in charge of the committal services.
