Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon for Mrs. Christine Assorson, at 2:45 o'clock at the Tollefson brothers' home and at 3:00 o'clock at the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar. The Rev. Olaf A. Langehough was in charge of the obsequies. Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery.

Mrs. Christine Christoferson Assorson was born October 16, 1860, in Hurdalen, Norway. She was baptized and confirmed by Pastor Otterbeck in Norway. On October 15th, 1881, she came to St. Ansgar and in 1883 was united in marriage to Knud Assorson. She made her home on the Assorson farm, two miles north of St. Ansgar, until 1931, when she moved to town. Since 1931, she has been the housekeeper for John and Tollev Tollefson.

She was a mother of two children, Bertha, who passed away in 1910, and son Alfred, who survives. Her husband passed away in 1920.

Among her personal effects were found some obituary notes in which she said "I thank God I was born in a Christian land and of Christian parents who taught me to know the one true God and Jesus Christ as my Savior."

Mrs. Assorson has been an active member of the First Lutheran congregation the past fifty years, attending services regularly, and often receiving the Lord's Supper. She was an ardent worker in the Ladies' Aid and only three weeks ago at the age of 84, insisted on taking her regular turn as hostess at the Cemetery Society meeting.

Saturday, June 30th, she became ill and passed away July 3rd at 8:25 p.m.

She is survived by one son, Alfred; one brother, Olaf Rustad of Kenmare, N. Dak; one step-daughter, Mrs. Clara Peterson of Canby, Minn.; one grandson, Marlin Assorson of the U.S.Navy, and two great grandchildren, Dion and David Assorson.

Mrs. Assorson will always be remembered for her helpfulness, kindness and Christian life. Blessed be her memory.

Those from out of town attending the services included Mrs. G. Marlin Assorson, Dion and David of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Peterson and Mrs. Clara Peterson of Canby, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Olson and son of Cedar Rapids, Alma Olson of Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Everding of Grafton, Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Hulshizer, and Mrs. Karen Olson of Meltonville, Mrs. Rene Taets of Little Cedar, Mrs. K.D. Crowley of Cedar Falls, Lloyd Wambeam of Cedar Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Eye and Ronald and Mrs. T.J.Dahl of Lyle.
