OBITUARY: Henry C. Brandt, 1844-1907

Henry C. Brandt passed away at Austin last Saturday after a short illness; on June 22 [1907], while chopping wood. He cut his foot quite badly, which caused his death. The deceased was born in Germany, June 2, 1844, and lived there until he was 16 years of age, when he emigrated to America.

He first located at Watertown, Wisconsin, where he made his home for a few years. Later he went to Mexico and some of the southern states, but finally returned to Wisconsin and was married to Miss Matilda Koch, in that state, in 1869.

That same fall he came west and located in Union township, Mitchell county, Iowa, where he lived until his death. The remains were brought here from the hospital at Austin, where he was taken for treatment, and the funeral was held at the Lutheran church at Toeterville, Tuesday.

He is survived by a wife and three daughters and three sons.
