Ole L. Ask was born in Ringeriget, Norway, February 9th, 1849, and died March 5th, 1930, being at the time of his death 81 years and 26 days old.

He came to this country with his parents, Lars and Toline T. Ask, in the year 1851 and settled in Wisconsin. In 1853 they returned to Norway only to remain there a short while, returning to this country and settling in Filmore county, Minn.

May the 28th, 1873, he was united in marriage to Olava Blakstvedt of Highland Prairie in Filmore county, Minn. To this union were born nine children, the first born dying in infancy.

The following children are residing in Mitchell County: L. Alfred, Wilhelm B., and Rudolph C; Mrs. E. G. Nelson, Mrs. C. K, Haugen, Mrs. Iver Rossum and Mrs. T.O. Synsby. Mrs. C.O. Blakstvedt is living in Filmore county, Minn.

Besides, the deceased is survived by one brother, Anton L. Ask of St. Ansgar; two sisters, Mrs. O.O. Krogstad of Osage and Mrs. R.M. Wignes of Grand Forks, N.D.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Olava; one brother, Andrew L. Ask of Salem, Oregon; two sisters, Mrs. O.O. Haugerud of Melford, Canada, and Mrs. G.G. Gilbertson of St. Ansgar.

Ole Ask was the proud grandfather of eighteen grandchildren and four great grandchildrn.

In 1876 the Ole Ask family moved from Filmore county, Minn., to Mitchell county, Iowa, and purchased a farm in Cedar township. In 1889, this farm was sold and the family moved to Rock township and settled on the farm now owned by W.B. Ask.

Since the home was broken up by the death of his wife about ten years ago, Ole Ask has made his home part of the time with Rudolph Ask and a part of the time with the Synsby family.

The evening of his lfe he spent at the E.G. Nelson home, northwest of St. Ansgar, having arrived here about four weeks ago.

Ole Ask was baptized into the name of the Triune God in Norway, and was confirmed in Filmore county, Minn. He has always remained a Lutheran and was at the time of his death, a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Osage.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 12:30 from the E.G. Nelson home and at 1:30 from the First Lutheran Church, the Rev. Fremstad of Osage, assisted by the Rev. Olaf A. Langehough of St. Ansgar, officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery, just north of St. Ansgar.
