Elick Anderson was born in Valders, Norway, on the 20th day of November, 1840, and died at his home in St. Ansgar, Iowa, October 18th, 1904, at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 29 days.

At the age of 21 he left his native land and came to this country, settling at Dodgeville, Wisconsin, where he went to work at the shoemaker's trade. After a couple of years he went to Montana, where he worked in the gold mines for the two years following. In the fall of 1865 he returned to Wisconsin and in the spring was married to Miss Anna Anderson, of Dodgeville, Wisconsin. To this union nine children were born, seven of whom are living.

In the summer of 1869 they moved to St. Ansgar, which has since been their home. Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his loss a mother 93 years old, three sisters and one brother.

The funeral was held Friday at the N.L. church. Rev. Waldeland preached the funeral sermon, speaking in both English and Norwegian. The remains were laid to rest in the N.L. cemetery at this place.

Those from a distance who were here to attend the funeral were, his son, Alfred, from Portland, North Dakota, his sister, Mrs. Erick Hanson, and niece, Mrs. Lewis Tysner, from Goldfield, Iowa.
