Carl Schmidt

Carl Schmidt, 76, Stacyville, died Tuesday, January 28, 1992 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota. Funeral services were held Friday, January 31 at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with Reverend Paul Otting officiating.

Rosary was said and a scripture service was held Thursday, January 30 at Visitation Catholic Church Hall.

Carl Schmidt was born August 21, 1915 at Waldorf, Minnesota to Joseph and Kathryn (Fischer) Schmidt.

He married Phyllis Beland June 9, 1941 at Visitation Church, Stacyville. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last June.

Carl was a member of Visitation Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of Foresters. He served on the Mitchell County Co-Op Elevator board. Carl and Phyllis farmed in the Stacyville area for 36 years.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Schmidt, Stacyville; two daughters, Mary Huettl, Oakdale, Minnesota; Kathy Johnson, North Carolina; two sons, Richard Schmidt, Garden Grove, California, and Tony Schmidt, San Diego, California; 13 grandchildren; five sisters and three brothers, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Burial was in Visitation Cemetery, Stacyville.
