Ervin Bartz, 95

Funeral services for Ervin William Bartz, 95, who died Tuesday, April 13, 1993 at Good Samaritan Center here, were held Friday, April 16 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton, with Reverned Gregory Bjornstad officiating.

Ervin William Bartz was born March 4, 1898, the son of Otto and Amalie Rachut Bartz. He was born in Newburg Township, Mitchell County.

He was baptized March 29, 1898 at St. John’s Lutheran, East of Grafton, and affirmed the faith of his baptism through confirmation March 31, 1912 at Emmanuel Lutheran, Grafton.

Ervin attended local country schools. He was united in marriage to Elvira Bethke November 27, 1932 and two children were born to this union.

After their marriage they farmed in the St. Ansgar area for several years. In 1939 the family moved one mile east of Bolan and farmed until retiring. Ervin was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and served on the church council.

In 1988 Ervin became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar.

Ervin is survived by his wife, Elvira of Kensett; one son, Orland and wife Clarice; one daughter Doris and husband, Albert Ralph, all of Grafton; one sister, Matie Borchardt of Osage; five grandchildren, Mrs. David (Susan) Dammen, Osage; Mrs. Larry (Karen) Foley of Northwood; Mrs. Ron (Donna) Loudenburg, Clear lake; Merlin Bartz, Grafton; Mrs. Craig (Barbara) Hackenmiller, Kasson, Minnesota; 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.
