Lyle Schultz [1912-2001]

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 29, 2001 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Riceville, for Lyle Schultz, age 88, of Riceville. Rev. Michael Parris officiated and graveside committal service was held at 2:30 p.m. at North Prairie Cemetery, rural Lake Mills. Lindstrom Funeral Home, Riceville, in charge of arrangements. Mr. Schultz died Thursday, May 24, 2001 at the Riceville Community Rest Home, Riceville.

Lyle was born August 18, 1912 in Marble Rock, Iowa the son of George and Bessie Wagner Schultz. He was united in marriage to Leona Groth on June 30, 1938 at Maple Leaf Lutheran Church, rural Elma, Iowa. He was engaged in farming most of his life and was a mechanic for International Harvester. He married Myrtle Brackey on March 12, 1960 at North Prairie Church in Lake Mills.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Leona Schreiber on Dec. 23, 2000 and his wife, Myrtle T. Schultz on Feb. 12, 1994; and one sister, Audrey Baldwin.

Those that survive him include one daughter, Betty Borchardt and her husband, Del of Riceville; one son, Leland Shultz and his wife, Sandra of Panama City, Florida; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Alice Wehner of Albert Lea, Minnesota and Helen Allison and her husband, Kent of Albert Lea, Minnesota; and two step-sons, Duane Brackey and his wife, Arlys of Lake Mills and Parnell Brackey and his wife, Marjorie of Emmons, Minnesota; 8 step-grandchildren, 21 step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.
