Ole K. Arno was born at Stavanger, Norway on March 18, 1854. In May 1886 he came to America and located at Nora Springs and worked on farms in this community.
On November 17, 1895 he was united in marriage to Maren Larsen Sorlie. Immediately after their marriage, they located on their farm in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. On this place he continued to live until 1924 when he moved to his home in Osage. About two years ago he returned to his farm that has been operated by his son, Knut.
In his wedlock four children were born, of which three survive: Knut, Alfred, and Mrs. Carl (Clara) Nelson of this community, and Louis of Superior, Wisconsin. Three sisters and one brother at Stavanger, Norway and Mrs. Iver (Ingeborg) Ones of this community also survive.
Mr. Arno has always been a member of the Lutheran Church and of the Rock Creek Lutheran congregation since coming to this community. He has enjoyed good health until about five years ago when both his physical and mental
strength began to fail. The last month he has been confined to his bed. He died on March 10, 1931. The cause of his death was hardening of the arteries.Funeral services were conducted by Rev. O.C. Myhre at the home and at Rock Creek Lutheran church on March 31st. Interment was made in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery.
