MRS. JOHN KNUTSON DIES

Mrs. Susan Knutson was born at Wathe, Norway, April 14, 1822. There she grew to womanhood and in 1848 she came to America settling in Wisconsin.

A year later she was married to John Knutson. After living there for some time they decided to go farther west and came to Iowa, settling in Canue Township, Winnesheik County where they resided until 1865 when they came to Mitchell County and settled on a farm three miles northeast of St. Ansgar where they continued to make their home.

MR. Knutson died March 22, 1882*. She continued to live on the farm until 1886 when she moved to Austin, Minnesota which was thereafter her home, though she died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Aldahl near Corning, Minnesota.

Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Knutson, but only four survive the death of their mother. Henry who lives on the old homestead, Knute C. of Lake Mills, Mrs. B. N. Nelson of Austin, Minnesota, and Mrs. T. K. Aldal of Corning, Minnesota.

There were present at the funeral Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Aldal and son John and Miss Martha Aldal of Lansing, Minnesota; Mr. T. K. Thompson, a son-in-law, of Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Knut Knutson of Lake Mills, also a nephew and two nieces Mr. Henry Jacobson and Mrs. O. Nelson of Hesper and Mr. Henry Wathe of Danny Brook, North Dakota.

The funeral was held at the U.N.L. Church at St. Ansgar conducted by Reverend M. E. Waldeland, and her remains were laid to rest in the U.N.L. Cemetery.
