Alton G. Kittleson Jr., 1931-2001

LAKE CITY, MINNESOTA -- A funeral Mass for Alton G. Kittleson Jr. will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake City, with the Rev. James Russell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites by Lake City VFW Post 8729 and American Legion Post 110.

Mr. Kittleson, 70, of Lake City, formerly of LeRoy and Rochester, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2001, in the emergency room of Lake City Hospital.

Born Nov. 18, 1931, in St. Ansgar, Iowa, he graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1950 and served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1953. On April 20, 1963, he married Violet Spellman in LeRoy. They lived in LeRoy until 1969, in Lake City from 1969 to 1991, and then in Rochester until returning to Lake City in 1999. Mr. Kittleson was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, sports and fishing.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Sam (Lisa) of Lake City and Don (Andrea) of Rochester; a daughter, Sandy (Mike) Miller of Mankato; two grandchildren; his mother, Fannie Kittleson of St. Ansgar; and a sister, Barbara Wilder of St. Ansgar. His father preceded him in death.

Friends may call an hour before the service Wednesday at the church. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Alton G. Kittleson Jr., 70, who died Sunday, November 24, 2001, at the Lake City Hospital ER , were held Wednesday, November 28 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake City with Father James Russell officiating. The church military rites will be by the Lake City VFW Post 8729 and American Legion Post 110.

Alston was born Nov. 18, 1931, in St. Ansgar to Alton and Fannie (Fass) Kittleson. he graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1950. He served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1953. He married Violet Spellman On April 20, 1963 in LeRoy, Minnesota where they lived. They lived in LeRoy until 1969, when they moved to Lake City. In 1991 they moved to Rochester and returned to Lake City in 1999.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake City and enjoyed gardening, sports and fishing.

Alton is survived by his wife; two sons, Sam (Lisa) of Lake City; Don (Andrea) of Rochester; one daughter, Sandy (Mike) Miller of Mankato, Minnesota; two grandchildren; mother Fannie Kittleson of St. Ansgar; a sister Barbara Wilder of St. Ansgar.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.
