Funeral services for Herbert Edward Young, 64, who died Monday May 30, at his home in St. Ansgar, were held Thursday, June 2 at the Schroder and Houg Funeral Home with the Rev. Lloyd E. Brockmeyer officiating.

Herbert Edward Young was born October 15, 1901, in Fairbanks, the son of Patrick and Bertha Young. In 1918 he started work on the Illinois Central Railroad with his father in Stacyville, Iowa. He was transferred to St. Ansgar in March 1932. He spent 47 years on the railroad before he was forced to retire January 1, 1965 due to illness.

He was united in marriage to Allie Marie Cleveland February 11, 1925. Four children were born to this union. He joined the Methodist Church in St. Ansgar in 1933.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Kenneth Edward Young, who was killed June 12, 1944 during World War II.

Surviving are three children; Mrs. James (Alice) McNaney of Norfolk Va.; Harold Young of Owatonna, Minn.; and Mrs. Dale (Arlene) Leeman of St. Ansgar and Mrs. William (Clara) Stedman of Racine Wis. and one brother Winston Young of Austin Minn.

Burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery with Rev. Brockmeyer in charge of the committal services.

Pallbearers were Paul Fass, Neal Grimes, Bernard Anderson, Ed Ites, George McCusker and Edward Rush.
