STACYVILLE--Phyllis Maxine Gunsallus, 61, of Stacyville, died Saturday (January 27, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Champion Funeral Home, Osage, and one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the church.
Phyllis M. Gunsallus was born Sept. 2, 1934, in Mason City.
Survivors include her husband, Dean A. Gunsallus, Stacyville; three daughters, Diane Wagner and Carol Nicholson, both of Osage, and Nancy Corcoran, Rushford, Minn.; one son, Terry Gunsallus, Austin, Minn.; two sisters, Barbara Carter, Yankton, S.D., and Shirley Darcy, Colorado Springs, Colo.; three brothers, Donald Hutzell Jr., Mason City, Ronald Hutzell, Topeka, Kan., and Curtis Hutzell, Austell, Ga.; and 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Phyllis Maxine Gunsallus, 61, 307 W. School, Stacyville, Iowa, died Saturday, January 27, 1996, at North Iowa Mercy Medical Center, Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Osage, the Reverends Ott and Hansen officiating. Interment will be at the Osage Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, at Champion Funeral Home, and an hour before the service at the church.
She was born to Ruth (Nodland) and Donald Hutzell on September 2, 1934, in Mason City, Iowa. She attended Rock Creek School, later moving to Osage, Ia. and graduating from Osage High School.
She married Dean A. Gunsallus on May 2, 1953 and worked at the telephone company, later becoming a nurses aid and then a home health aide. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. She was a Sunday School teacher, Cub Scout leader, Girl Scout leader and 4-H leader. She and Dean also opened their home to foreign exchange students throughout the years.
She is survived by husband Dean A. Gunsallus, son and daughter-in-law Terry and Shawne Gunsallus, Austin, Mn., daughter Diane (Gunsallus) Wagner, Osage, Ia., daughter and son-in-law Carol and Mike Nicholson, Osage, Ia., daughter and son-law Nancy and Paul Corcoran, Rushford, Mn., three brothers, Donald Hutzell Jr., Mason City, Ia., Ronald Hutzell, Topeka Kansas, Curtis Hutzell, Austell, Ga. sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Frank Carter, Yankton, S.D., sister Shirley Darcy, Colorado Springs, Co., fourteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, four brothers and one sister.
Burial: Osage Cemetery, Mitchell County, Iowa
