OSAGE, IOWA - Bentley A. Halverson, 93, of Osage, died Tuesday (Feb. 26, 2002) at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

He was born Aug. 21, 1908, near St. Ansgar, the son of Carl and Sedsel (Evenson) Halverson. He graduated from Osage High School and worked at various jobs until starting farming near Orchard in 1932.

Ben was united in marriage to Helen Mauser on March 6, 1934, at her parents' home near New Haven. In 1942 they purchased a farm near McIntire where they lived until their retirement in 1972.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and one hour before services on Saturday at the church.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Halverson, of Osage; three daughters, Nancy Fitzpatrick and husband, Terry, of Lynnville, Bonnie Wagner and husband, Max, of Eagan, Minn., and Kathy Bartels and husband, Jim, of Stewartville, Minn.; one son, Jim Halverson and wife, Linda, of Montrose; three sisters, Evelyn Brown of Charles City, Marian Smalley of St. Ansgar and Jeanette Halverson, of Arlington, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents; two brothers, Harold Halverson and Conrad Halverson; and two sisters, Olga Halverson and Millie Neuberger.
