Osage Farmer Dies at 81; Rites Pending
OSAGE, IOWA — John Bower, 81, died Friday evening at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital following a series of strokes. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Champion Funeral home.
Born Sept. 28, 1877, in Pennsylvania, he was the son of Jacob and Caroline Bower. He came to the Osage area with his parents and has lived here since childhood. He was a farmer.
Mr. Bower had been a resident of the Garrison Convalescent Home here. His wife, the former Etta Leeman, died in 1950. His only son, Ellsworth, also preceded him in death.
Survivors are a brother, Robert, Mitchell; three sisters: Mrs. Will Haberkorn, Osage; Mrs. Alice Wells, Vinton; and Mrs. Henry Graham, Alexandria, Minnesota.
