OSAGE, IOWA — Dan Chase, 83, Great Western Railroad employee for 52 years, unexpectedly Monday evening at his home.
He began his employment with the railroad at age 16, near LaCrescent, Minnesota.
His body is at the Champion Funeral Home, where funeral rites are pending word from relatives at a distance.
He was born on November 16, 1871, at Hokah, Minnesota. He was employed at LaCrescent and was the first telegraph operator for the Santa Fe Railroad at Phoenix, Arizona. He was later employed at Fountain City, Minnesota.
He married Hannah Fiedler and moved to Osage, where they had since lived. His wife died in
1937, and, in 1940 he married Mrs. Alta Godfrey.He leaves leaves his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Gus Tupper, Phoenix, Arizona, and Mrs. Kathryn Brush, Los Angeles, California; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding him was one brother.
