Mrs. J. Westenberger Funeral Held At Immanuel Lutheran
Funeral services for Mrs. Amanda Westenberger, 85, who died September 5, 1967 were held September 8 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Reverend Norman Betke officiating.
Amanda Dorothea westenberger was born October 31, 1881, one of seven daughters of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Toeter, the founders of the Toeterville community.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville. She was a lifelong resident of Mitchell County, receiving her education here, and also studying voice for a time in Des Moines.
Her early years were spent in Toeterville caring for her aging parents until Octover 20, 1930 when she was married to the late Dr. J. C. Westenberger, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Westenberger was devoted to the work of her church, and in her younger years spent much time in the work of its organizations and in the music of the church.
On March 21, 1964 she suffered a severe heart attack and since then had been in failing health. April 5 of this year she became very ill and was hospitalized for six weeks, after which she was cared for at the Good Samaritan Center here until her death September 5 at the age of 85 years and 10 months.
Surviving her are a son, Dr. Lorenz Westenberger and two granddaughters of Pasadena, California, and a daughter, Adeline of St. Ansgar; also nieces and nephews.
Burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery with Reverend Betke in charge of the committal services.
