FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. BURINGRUD THURSDAY, JANUARY 15 [1948]
Mrs. Laura Buringrud of Northwood passed away at the University Hospital in Iowa City on Sunday morning. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday from the Northwood Funeral Home at 1 O’clock and at the Mona Church at 2:30 P.M. Interment will be in the Mona cemetery.
Laura Buringrud was born January 22, 1878, to Gulic and Ingebor Blakestad, on the Blakestad homestead in Otranto Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. She grew up on the Blakestad homestead and was confirmed in the Norwegian Lutheran Church at Mona, Iowa and has been a member of that church all her life.
In 1897 she was united in marriage to Theodore Buringrud and to this union one son, Gaylen was born. Her husband has preceded her in death.
Mrs. Buringrud made her home at the Blakestad homestead caring for her mother, Mrs. Ingebor Blakestad, until her death in 1927. In 1938 she moved to Northwood, Iowa, where she has since lived, spending her time helping other in times of sickness and need.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Sophia, and one brother, Otto. She leaves to mourn her passing one son, grandchildren and great grandchildren and other close relatives.
Her cheerful disposition, kindness and helpfulness to others will be missed by all who knew her.
