Herman A. Borchardt

Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at the Immanuel Lutheran Church for Herman A. Borchardt. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Herman A. Borchardt, son of William F. Borchardt and Johanna Jaeger, was born June 5, 1864, near Helenville, Wisconsin. Soon after his birth he was baptized in the Lutheran Church of the same place. On April 14, 1978, he was confirmed in St. Marks Lutheran Church at Watertown, Wisconsin.

He grew to manhood in the vicinity of Watertown and on August 29, 1892, he was married to Miss Clara Moeller of St. Ansgar. The young couple settled on a farm northeast of St. Ansgar where they resided until 1902. Then they sold their farm and moved to St. Ansgar. The next 13 years found Mr. Borchardt engaged in the implement business.

In 1915 he retired from active business but always found something useful to do.

On November 16, 1941, his wife preceded him in death. For several years the health of the deceased began to fail. His niece, Miss Lydia Brogmus kept house for him and gave him excellent care. Last Saturday he suffered a stroke which paralyzed his throat and a repetition of the stroke Tuesday noon caused his death on Wednesday morning at 10:45.

Mr. Borchardt attained the age of 80 years 7 months and 28 days.

There being no direct descendants, Mr. Borchardt’s memory is cherished by two sisters, one step-brother and numerous other relatives and friends.
