Albert Nelson Dropped Dead In Home Monday
Heart Attack Takes Well Known Farmer And Business ManAlbert Nelson, 67, died of a heart attack at his home on Walnut street, across from the high school, some time during the early morning of Monday.
He was well as usual the day before, and retired without any symptoms of feeling otherwise. Some time during the night he arose. Early in the morning Mrs. Nelson noticed he hadn’t returned to his bed and went to seek him. He was in the basement and had apparently been dead for some time.
Obituary
Albert Oscar Nelson, son of Nels and Inga Nelson, was born Dec. 2, 1873 in Rudd township, Floyd county, Iowa and passed away at his home in Osage, March 16, 1941.
The deceased was baptized and confirmed in the Rock Creek Lutheran church. On May 25, 1898, he was united in marriage with Clara Emilia Knudson. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Johan Olson at the Rock Creek Lutheran church.
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson lived with the former’s parents until March of the succeeding year, when they moved to a neighboring farm, which they had purchased. This farm remained their home until 1920 when they retired to Osage, and where they have continued to reside until the present except for one year spent on their farm.
In 1923, Mr. Nelson, in partnership with Nels Johnson, bought and operated a shoe store in Osage. After Mr. Johnson’s death, Mr. Nelson’s son-in-law, Virgil McGhan, joined the business as a partner. In 1927, the business was sold.
The widow and two children survive Mr. Nelson: a son, Ervin Arthur, Waterloo; and a daughter, Cora Alice (Mrs. Virgil) McGhan, Lime Springs. There are six grandchildren.
Mr. Nelson had suffered a heart ailment for years; therefore while death came suddenly, it was not unexpected.
Funeral service was held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Champion funeral home, with the Rev. T.P. Solem officiating; internment was in the Rock Creek cemetery.
