Mrs. Anna Knutson Former Resident of This County Dead
Mrs. Anna Knutson passed away Saturday morning at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Lofgren, at Wheelock, N.D., and was buried Wednesday afternoon, December 27, in the Wheelock cemetery, according to an account of her life and death sent us from Wheelock.
“The service was conducted by the Rev. Carl Nelson, who sang a Norwegian song, “Jeg ved en vie” before the sermon, Orin Lee sang “Jesus Savior Pilot Me” after the sermon. These were favorite songs of the deceased. Pallbearers were Lars Larson, Adolph Olson, Rasmus Siverson, Jake Bodenfield, Henry Erickson and John Solberg.”
“Mrs. Knutson was born Aug. 23, 1857, in Hardanger, Norway, and with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Iver Dahle, came to America in 1866. They settled first near Decorah, Iowa later moving to Rock Creek, (Mitchell county), where she grew up and was married in 1877 to K.E. Knutson.”
“Three daughters were born to them. They are: Mrs. Clara Nelson, of Osage; Mrs. Ida Lofgren, of Wheelock, and Mrs. Elizabeth Hylden, who passed away at her home near Wheelock in 1918. Mr. Knudson died in 1912. Mrs. Knudson came to live with her daughters, Mrs. Hylden and Mrs. Lofgren, and except for several visits with her daughter, Mrs. Albert Nelson, in Osage, made her home in Wheelock.”
“Surviving are three grandchildren: Ervin Nelson, of Waterloo; Mrs. Virgil McGhan, Lime Springs and Eileen Lofgren, of Wheelock; also six great grandchildren, Avery, Doris, Dorothy and Alton Nelson and Virgil Jr. and Donald McGhan.
