STACYVILLE, IOWA - Margaret "Pete" Walser, 80, of Stacyville passed away Monday (Aug. 3, 2009) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with the Rev. John Moser officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church with a rosary at 6:30 p.m.

Pete was born Feb. 12, 1929, to Paul A. (Curly) and Selma Staloch, in Freeborn, Minn. She attended St. Casimir School in Wells, Minn. She received her X-ray technician training at Miller Hospital in St. Paul.

Pete married Robert Walser on July 12, 1952. She worked at the Medical Arts Building in St. Paul while Robert received his veterinary medicine degree from the University of Minnesota.

They came to Stacyville, on July 1, 1954. Their family included a son and four daughters. Pete was a homemaker and contributed to the community in numerous ways.

Pete is survived by her husband, Robert; and four daughters, Ann (Gene) of Wells, Minn., Karen (Daniel) of Negaunee, Mich., Joan (Mark) of Juneau, Alaska; and Mary (Brennan) of Iowa City; grandchildren, Charles (Sarah) DeRoche, Stacy (Tim) Shaker, Daniel (Jesy) DeRoche and Preston Kalis; great-grandchildren, Charles and Ella DeRoche; sisters, Lil Jensen of Wells, Minn., Karen (Chuck) Hoeg of Wabasha, Minn.; brothers, Quentin Staloch of Minnesota Lake, Minn., and Robert (Sherry) Staloch of Freeborn, Minn.

Pete was preceded in death by her parents, son Paul; sisters, Jean Hajdu, and Eunice Overby, sister-in-law, Connie Staloch; brothers-in-law, Norris Overby and Donald (Doc) Jensen.
