OSAGE, IOWA - Daniel David Gerdman, 22, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 4, 2009, of a work-related accident.
Dan was born February 11, 1987, in West Allis, Wis., the son of David Gerdman and Margaret Jo (Johanns) Gerdman. He graduated from West Allis Central High School. Dan worked as an electrician. Growing up, he enjoyed playing baseball, soccer and fishing.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery in New Haven.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Friday, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, and one hour before services on Saturday.
Dan is survived by his father, David (Julie) Gerdman, of Oconomowoc, Wis.; his brother, Doug (Erin) Gerdman of Osage; maternal grandmother, Shirley Johanns of Osage; paternal grandparents, Donald (Rozanna) Gerdman, of Baileys Harbour, Wis.; two stepsisters, Jessica Mercado of Milwaukee, Wis., and Antonia (Dustin) Mercado of Muskego, Wis.; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Jo (Johanns) Gerdman in 2005; maternal grandfather, Raymond Johanns; and paternal grandmother, Virginia Gerdman.

WATERLOO, IOWA — A worker has died after being found unconscious at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the John Deere Foundry in Waterloo.
The worker, identified by police as Daniel David Gerdman, 22, of 701 Hartman Ave., was an employee of Black Hawk Electric, doing work at the Deere & Co. Foundry. Gerdman was taken to Allen Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:53 p.m., police said.
“The cause of death is unknown but is expected to be determined by autopsy,” Deere spokesman Ken Golden said via e-mail. “The individual was found unconscious in the workplace and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.”
“We will fully cooperate with authorities as they examine this death,” Golden said.
