Mary A. Michels

Mary A. Michels, age 74, died Tuesday evening, March 14, 2000 at St. Mark's Lutheran Home where she was a resident.

Mary Adella was born July 11, 1925 in Mitchell County, Iowa, to Charles and Irma (Vergate) Arickx. On Nov. 15, 1945 she was united in marriage to Russell M. Michels in Osage, Iowa. Mary was past president of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 91 and did specialized sewing projects for various organizations in Austin. She also worked in the St. Augustine cafeteria. Mary enjoyed gardening and flowers. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter Elizabeth Ryley, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei; two sons and daughters-in-law Jerry and Susan Michels, Kenosha, Wis., Robert and Cathy Michels, Menomonie, Wis.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law Evaona and Laurence Moeykens, Austin, Bertha Lievrouw, Osage, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband Russell M. Michels on Nov. 3, 1989.

The casket bearers will be Jim Boerjon, August Boerjon, Larry Moeykens, Ray Arickx Jr., Mark Arickx, Mark Michels, Tome Michels and Michael Michels.

· Service: A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2000 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Louis Cook officiating.

· Interment: Calvary Cemetery

· Visitation: There will be a 4 p.m. CCW rosary and a 7 p.m. wake service on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. and also from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday.
