SUMNER, IOWA - Funeral services for Betty Jane Kuker will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at St. John Lutheran Church, Sumner, with the Rev. John Sorenson and the Rev. Norman Stubbendick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner, and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church.

Mrs. Kuker, 70, died Thursday, November 20, 1997, at Community Memorial Hospital, Sumner, after a short illness.

She was born March 11, 1927, in Iowa City, the daughter of Ormel and Laura Forbes Cleveland. She graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1946 and attended cosmetology school in Waterloo.

On January 19, 1947, she married Veylord Kuker at the Methodist Church in St. Ansgar. He preceded her in death July 22, 1997. Mrs. Kuker was a store manager for McAloon's (later Bealmer's) Dry Goods in Sumner for many years and later worked in the Sumner High School cafeteria, retiring in 1994.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and WELCA.

Survivors include one son, James of Sumner, two daughters, Bonnie (Loren) Gronwoldt of Riceville, and Caroi Nicholson of Des Moines; and one sisfer, Jean Neeley of St. Ansgar.

She was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Veylord; and one daughter, Barbara Ann, in infancy.
