Dies in Illinois
At age 83
OSAGE, IOWA - Mrs. Mary Atherton-Long, about 83, died at Danville, Illinois after several years illness, according to her niece, Mrs. Harold Levers and Mrs. Ray Peterson.
Mrs. Long was the daughter of the founder of the Mitchell County Press, Thomas Atherton, Sr., and worked in the office with her father and later with her brother, the late Thomas Atherton Jr., for many years.
She married Jim Long, who also operated the Mitchell County Press for some time. She is the last member of her family.
A brother, Frank G. Atherton, owner and editor of the Clear Lake Mirror, died two years ago.
