ST. ANSGAR, IOWA -- Services for Thomas Hume, 57, who died Sunday at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, Minnesota, after a long illness, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in St. Ansgar. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar City Cemetery.

Friends may call at Schroeder Funeral Home, Wed., between 8 and 8:30 p.m.

received word that their grandson,
Pfc. Thomas Hume, has been transferred
from Sioux City, Iowa, to Ogden,
Utah, for two weeks' training.

He is in the air forces.

Thomas H. Hume [1922-1979]

Funeral services for Thomas H. Hume, 57, of Austin, Minn., who died at St. Olaf hospital, Austin, December 30, were held January 3 at the St. Ansgar United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Wittern officiating.

Thomas H. Hume was born September 3, 1922 in St. Ansgar, the only son of Thomas Hall and Myrle (James) Hume. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist church in St. Ansgar and attended schools in Waterloo and St. Ansgar. After graduation Mr. Hume was inducted into the U.S. Army December 4, 1942 and served nine months in the United States and over two years overseas.

His entire life was spent as a truck driver, and for the past 16 years he had been employed by McFarland Truck Lines of Austin, Minn.

Mr. Hume was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. His only survivors included cousins: Mrs. Jean (Hegland) Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Janis (Sue) Blumentals and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hegland, all of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hegland and Mrs. Rose Hegland of St. Ansgar; also their families and a host of friends.

Burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery with Rev. Wittern in charge of committal services. Military honors at graveside were by the Walter T. Enneberg Post No. 358 of the American Legion's honor guard.
