ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Edward C. Zacharda, 91, of St. Ansgar died on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Robert Lemmermann officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home of St. Ansgar is in charge of arrangements. 641-713-4920.

Edward Charles Zacharda, 91, of St. Ansgar died Saturday June 20, 2009 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City Iowa. Funeral services will be at 9:00 AM on Tuesday June 23, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in St. Ansgar with Rev. Robert Lemmermann officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetary. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Edward Charles Zacharda was born June 13, 1918 to Frank and Maria (Wrench) Zacharda in St. Ansgar, Iowa. After graduation he served in the U.S. Navy, from February 22, 1944 to May 18, 1946.
On May 22, 1948 Edward married Geraldine Marie England at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He worked at White Farm (Oliver) Equipment Co. in Charles City for 20 years. He loved animals, nature, gardening and doing carpentry work.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Maria Zacharda, his wife Geraldine, three infant children Marijayn, Debra and Douglas. A daughter Rozann Marie (Carl) Tidemanson; three brothers Frank, Rudy and George; two sisters Helen Wright and infant sister Mary.
Edward is survived by his son Todd (Christine) Zacharda of St. Ansgar, sister Rosie Anderson of Austin, Minnesota, and two grandchildren, Samantha and Daniel Zacharda of Kasson, Minnesota.
