HOLD RITES AT OSAGE FOR RETIRED FARMER
OSAGE, IOWA - Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. for Ernest Torney, 54, who died at his home in Osage Saturday evening. Services will be at Champion's Funeral Home, the Rev. Wayne Christiansen officiating, with burial in the Osage cemetery.
Ernest Torney was born November 10, 1889, the son of Albert and Paulina Torney, on a farm west of Osage. He attended the rural schools, and engaged in farming his entire life until he was forced to retire two years ago because of ill health.
On November 14, 1936 he married Ethel Barrett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jason Barrett at Northwood. Following their marriage, they established their home in Osage.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel Barrett Torney, one brother, Raymond, near Osage, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Graham, near Osage, and Gail Torney, at the state hospital, Independence, Iowa.
