OSAGE, IOWA - Mrs. Amy Best, aged 45 years, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 1931 at 4 p. m. at her home here, after an illness of several months.
She is survived by her mother, her brother, William M. Young who lives at the old Young farm home, a sister, Mrs. Ada (Glen) Kearney of The Dalles, Oregon, a son, Claude, and two daughters, Katherine and Dorothy.
Her father died in 1927, and her husband, Clarence A. Best, seventeen years ago.
The funeral service conducted by her pastor, Rev. S. K. Ellis at the Methodist church, Monday, March 2, at 10:30 a.m.

After Long Illness
Mrs. Amy best passed away at her home last Thursday afternoon at about 5 o'clock, after an illness of several months. She had returned to her home in a last attempt to seek relief from cancer, and was very weak also from several vain operations to relieve her.
Mrs. Best was left a widow when her family was small, and her struggle and success in rearing and educating them is an example of mother love and devotion that will not soon be forgotten in this community.
Anna May Young was born December 21, 1885, in Worth County, Iowa. She was the second child in a family of five children born to William and Catherine Young.
She was married to Clarence A. Best June 26, 1907. Mr. and Mrs. Best began their married life in Washington, D.C. where Mr. Best was employed in the war department for six years. Three children were born to them: Claude A., Kathryn and Dorothy.
After her husband died in 1912, Mrs. Best and children moved to Osage, where they have lived since. She has been employed in business places as seamstress during the past several years, and recently had worked with her son, Claude, who is one of the proprietors of the Siemer Cleaning Company.
She became a member of the Pleasant Valley Church in girlhood and transferred her membership in 1933 to the Osage Methodist Church, where she was a faithful member until her death. She was a member of the Wa-tan-Ye Club.
Surviving besides her children are her sister, Mrs. Ada Kearney, of the Dalles, Oregon, and three brothers, Arthur J., of Kelso, Washington, Marvin K. of Pattonsburg, Missouri; and William, who lives on the home farm northeast of Osage, also her mother.
