Walter E. Durben

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 26, 1988 at 10:30 a. m. at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, for Walter E. Durben, 81, of Stacyville. The Reverend Carl Manternach will officiate and burial will be in Visitation Catholic Church Cemetery, Stacyville.

Mr. Durben Died Monday, October 24, 1988 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, Osage, of natural causes.

He was born July 6, 1907 in Meyer. He was the son of Joseph and Rose (Hemann) Durben.

He attended Sacred Heart School in Meyer.

On October 5, 1938 he married Ana Halbach in Stacyville. From 1938 to 1950 they operated a cafe in Stacyville. He was later self-employed in construction. He also served as custodian at the Visitation Catholic Church from 1961-1972.

Mr. Durben was preceded in death by one grandchild; five brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Ana of Stacyville; three daughters, Mrs. obert (Juanita) Wageman of St. Paul, Minnesota, Ms. Karen Fick of Mason City, and Mrs. Bary (Jeanne) Overlee of Mitchell, South Dakota; three sons, Lawrence of Maryland Heights, Missouri, Joseph of Woodland Park, Colorado, and Daniel of Ivory Coast, West Africa; four sisters, Eleanor Werner of Stacyville, Helen Blake of Stacyville, Lydia Birschback of Fon du Lac, Wisconsin, and Catherine Briester of Fon du Lac, Wisconsin; one brother Art of Meyer; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
