Dimock, Hutchinson County, South Dakota

Death: Jan. 18, 2005
Osage, Mitchell County, Iowa

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Almond P. "Al" Hohn, 85, died on Tuesday, January 18, 2005, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Funeral service at St. Ansgar Catholic Church in St. Ansgar with the Rev. Mark Reasoner officiating. Burial will be in St. Ansgar City Cemetery in St. Ansgar.

Visitation at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar.

Al was born on July 16, 1919, in Dimock, South Dakota, the son of Andrew and Mary (Bowar) Hohn.

He was married to Rita Roth for more than 60 years. Al farmed and later drove truck for various employers. Al was a people person, doing things for others before things for himself. He was a hard worker in providing for his family.

He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. Al dearly loved his children and grandchildren.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Rita, of St. Ansgar; three daughters: Mary Bzoskie and husband, Bob, of Kasson, Minnesota, Elaine Warner of Byron, Minnesota, and Marlene Lippitt and husband, Dennie, of Big Lake, Minnesota; two sons, Gerald Hohn and wife, Sue, of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and Dennis Hohn and wife, Dawn, of Ankeny, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Victor Hohn of Woonsocket, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.
