Robert L. Straube

RUDD, IOWA - Robert L. Straube, 76, of rural Rudd, died Monday (Feb. 10, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Osage, with the Rev. Chris F. Gugel officiating. Burial will be in the Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage, and one hour before services at the church on Thursday.

Robert was born May 5, 1920, near Nora Springs, the son of Arthur and Lyrle (Baker) Straube. Robert attended school in Nora Springs and graduated from Nora Springs High School in 1937.

He married Dorothy Schultz on Sept. 21, 1946, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton. They lived and farmed on the same farm stead near Rudd for over 50 years. He taught Sunday school and was superintendent at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Nora Springs. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Osage. He served on the elevator board in Rudd for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Straube, Rudd; one daughter, Rhonda Groshens and her husband, Douglas, Bancroft; two sons, Dennis Straube and his wife, Cynthia, Rudd, and Douglas Straube and his wife, Martha, Rudd; five grandchildren, Dustin and Derek Straube, Rudd; Terri and Kelli Groshens, Bancroft, and Laura Straube, Rudd; one sister, Doris Hillmer and her husband, Lyle, Mason City; and one brother, Glen Straube, Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
