OSAGE, IOWA - Claire Rosenquist Schoenborn, age 80, of Osage, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 1, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Rev. John Moser officiating. Visitation is from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a scripture wake service at 7:30 p.m. Private inurnment services will be held at St. Peter's Cemetery in New Haven.
Claire was born in Seattle, Washington, to Arthur and Selma (Krogstad) Rosenquist on April 26, 1929. The family moved to Osage in 1931, where Claire attended school, graduating in 1947. Following graduation, she worked at the local telephone company.
Claire was united in marriage to Donald Schoenborn at St. Edward's Church Rectory in Sioux City, Iowa, on May 29, 1947. They had five children: Pamela, Carol, Geri, Mary Kay and Edward. Claire retired in 1997 after 27 years with the Mitchell County Home Health Service.
She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Amercan Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W. Auxiliary, past officer of the Family and Friends Association of Opportunity Village, a volunteer at Faith Home, and a former mentor in the Bridges Mentoring Program.
Claire is survived by three daughters, Carol Grimm of Osage; Geri (Darwin) Thompson of St. Ansgar; Mary Kay Schoenborn of Clear Lake; one son, Edward (Janna) Schoenborn of Santee, California; eight grandchildren, Vicki (Kenny) Low, Heath (Angela) Grimm and Chris Grimm, Kyle and Erin Thompson, Derek, Kayla and Dane Schoenborn; five great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Allison and Ryan Low, Emma and Leah Grimm; one brother, Richard (Jill) Rosenquist of Sebastopol, California; a brother-in-law, Lionel Eubanks of Chicago, Illinois; one nephew and four nieces.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Donald, in 2005; an infant daughter, Pamela; her parents, Arthur and Selma Rosenquist; an infant brother, Dale; her son-in-law, Ralph Grimm; and a sister-in-law, Irma Eubanks.
