A. Dean Hansen, 69, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, died August 2, 2000, at Pakashkan Lake, Canada.
Dean was born on June 7, 1931 in Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Marie (Denning) Hansen. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, Iowa. He graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1950.
On July 12, 1952, Dean was united in marriage to Elaine (Thorson) in San Antonio, Texas, while serving as a medic in the armed forces. He served in the Korean War for 13 months. Dean returned home and farmed the family farm until his retirement in 1993. Dean enjoyed a lifelong love for hunting and fishing. He had a gentle spirit and loved to spend time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Elaine of St. Ansgar; four daughters, Donna (Jerry) Rachut of St. Ansgar, Diane (Ron) Gasteiger of St. Ansgar, Joni of Pierre, S.D., and Janis (Kent) Hackenmiller of Grafton, Iowa; three sons, Steve (Margie) of St. Ansgar, Scott (Jolane) of Toeterville, and Brian (Jodie) of St. Ansgar; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Leora (Sylvan) Stromley, Lyle, Lanita (Darwin) Koster of St. Ansgar, brother Duane (Nancy) Fredricksburg, Va., along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant daughter, Bobbi Lynn.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2000, at First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with Robert Porisch officiating.
Visitation: 9-10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Parish Center on Saturday
Interment: St. Ansgar Cemetery, St. Ansgar. Military honors by Walter T. Enneburg No. 358 of the American Legion of St. Ansgar.

ST. ANSGAR - A. Dean Hansen, 69, of St. Ansgar, died Wednesday (Aug. 2, 2000) at Pakashkan Lake, Canada.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating. Burial will be in St. Ansgar Cemetery in St. Ansgar. Military honors will be conducted by Walter T. Enneberg No. 358 of the American Legion of St. Ansgar.
The family will receive friends from 9 until 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the first Lutheran Parish Center.

#3:ATTEND MEDICAL SCHOOL
St. Ansgar, Iowa — Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hansen have received word from their son Pvt. Arthur Dean Hansen that he is being transferred from Ft. Sheridan, Illinois, to Ft. Meade, Maryland, where he will attend medical school.
