Margaret Henrietta (nee Tesch) Murphy
Funeral services for Margaret H. Murphy, age 73, who died on October 29, 1994, were held on November 1, 1994 at the First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, Iowa, with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating.
Margaret H. Murphy was born May 27, 1921 in Mitchell County, the daughter of Otto E. Tesch and Mathilda (Groth) Tesch. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville. She attended country school in Toterville and high school in St. Ansgar.
On May 18, 1941, she married Vernon Lee Murphy in Albert Lea, Minnesota. They lived in Austin, Spring Valley and in Lyle, Minnesota for many years. They retired in St. Ansgar.
Margaret was president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lyle for many years, and she was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lyle and First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. She served as secretary of the Senior Saints and enjoyed crafts.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Vernon, St. Ansgar; three sons, Rueben and Ann Murphy, Lyle, Minnesota, Derald and Roxie Murphy, Maple Grove, Minnesota; Dean and Joy Murphy of Denver, Colorado; two daughters, Carolyn and Bruce Coleman of Kettle River, Minnesota, and Nyla and Larry Hansen, St. Ansgar; 9 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, several step great grandchildren; four sisters, Matie Torney, Elsie Decklever and Agnes Decklever, all of Osage; Mathilda Olson, Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; two brothers, Otto and Rudolph Tesch, St. Ansgar; brother-in-law Melvin Rohne of Lyle, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Elizabeth Rohne, brother Alvin Tesch.
Burial was in First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar.
